Pelosi National Security Advisor Mike Sheehy to Join McBee Strategic Consulting
Washington, DC – Mike Sheehy, national security advisor to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, will join McBee Strategic Consulting in March 2009. Bringing more than 30 years of Capitol Hill experience to the firm, Sheehy will play a critical role across McBee Strategic’s diverse practice areas, including its well-established defense practice as well as its thriving energy, finance, and business consulting work.
“Mike is a game-changer and will provide our clients with significant edge and value in helping them to achieve their political, policy, and strategic objectives in Washington,” said Steve McBee, President and CEO of McBee Strategic. “Mike’s three-plus decades of experience working in a wide variety of senior level policy positions provides additional dimension to our growing team of senior professionals. We’re incredibly excited to have him,” McBee added.
Recognized in January as one of the “Top 25 People You Should Know on Capitol Hill” by Politico, Mike has been a senior policy advisor to Speaker Pelosi since 2003 and worked closely with her during her 10 years on the House Intelligence Committee. His responsibilities for the Speaker included U.S. defense and energy security, intelligence, homeland security, and foreign policy, as well as providing support for interaction between the Speaker and leaders of foreign governments.
Sheehy steps into a principal role in McBee Strategic’s defense and security practice, which is one of the largest and most diverse in Washington representing Fortune 500 defense and aerospace companies, systems integrators, and emerging growth companies.
“I’m extremely excited to join the McBee Strategic team. It’s the perfect fit for me, because McBee Strategic is not a typical K Street firm,” said Sheehy. “The company’s growing portfolio of services offers me the opportunity to blend traditional advocacy with the business consulting, investment risk management, and transaction support associated with the company’s growing presence on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley,” added Sheehy.
The addition of House veteran Sheehy caps a year of professional staff growth at McBee. Since February 2008, the firm has added former legislative affairs director for White House Council on Environmental Quality, Ashley Slater; former Senate Commerce Committee communications director, Andy Davis; former Senate Energy Committee aide, Angela Becker-Dippmann; and most recently, former Senate Banking Committee aide, Jenn Fogel-Bublick. The firm now includes 15 professionals with deep Senate, House, and Administration experience and particular expertise in authorizing legislation, appropriations, and communications.
